SUMmIT ALL UP

GTS SUMMIT anchored in Maui,Hawaii

I was away for 8 months onboard Celebrity Cruise Lines' GTS Summit. I was the Video Production Specialist onboard from May 2007 to January 2008. It was a pretty good and exciting contract, mixed with the usual work tensions, heartaches, break-ups and of course parties in-spite of it all. I was lucky to be around the good influences and to have gained good friends on that stint. I was really busy during that entire run that's why I wasn't able to write something about it. I was running the cruise DVD production by myself, doing the shooting, editing and DVD mastering and duplication. Whew! But I loved it, I was able to go on tours, see a lot of things even more than what the passengers experience themselves, I suppose.

This contract is also memorable for me, I laughed, I cried, I partied and got broken hearted more than anyone else could have in one lifetime. Sniff! Sniff! But i don't want to talk about that, maybe some other time. I wanna tell you more about the good stuff and happy times that Summit embodied in me, three's been a lot and I hope to remember it all as I go along.

So feast on this, my entire (8 months of being away) story, from Alaska to the northwest, all the way to Hawaii and back down to Panama!

Powell St., Downtown Vacouver

I joined the Summit in Vancouver on May 25th but I was there a day before and spent the night at Grand Trunk Hostel. I had a very nice view of the downtown from my room. For 25 euros, I say my entire stay has been worth it. The next day I went to the main cruise terminal to find out that my ship wasn't there, I didn't know that there's another terminal in Vancouver, a cargo terminal. Augh! From that day, I knew that this contract is gonna be interesting. After about 30-minutes of walking and dragging myself and my luggage from the hostel, and two cab rides from the cruise terminals, I was able to make it in time before the ship sailed off to Alaska.

PHOTO TEAM with my cousin Bryce, uncle Alex and aunt Lani in front of the Mendenhall Galcier in Juneau, Alaska

I love Alaska, especially Juneau. I got to go home to my uncle, eat Filipino foods, chill and watch TFC!

The famous Creek Street in Ketchikan, Alaska where the men and the salmon come upstream to spawn!

Icy Strait Point, Alaska

ISP as what we'd like to call it is where the longest zipline is located, the Ziprider. I'm proud to say I've been down that zipline 5 times! I almost died on this place as well, I went on an ATV tour and somehow lost control on my driving at one point. Thank God for those trees that stopped me from spinning and tumbling down the dirt road!

Skagway, Alaska. Very cold place even in summer

The Klondike, this is the border between US and Canada

Exit Glacier, Seward Alaska. Gotta keep yourself warm!

Salmon is everywhere in Alaska!

The Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis

This is the highlight of my contract. To finally see this rare phenomenon, it was really amazing! Words are really not enough to describe how I felt that night. The sky turned green, it got really really cold, then we saw the curtain of dancing lights. Truly magical!

From Alaska we have to reposition to Hawaii. So we had to pass by the northwest and I really loved that cruise, especially San Francisco!

The first thing I wanted when in SF is to get arrested by cops! Psyched!

The famous and stinky Pier 39

Prisonbreak!

The Golden Gate Bridge... Whoahoo!

Catalina Island

The Astoria Column, Astoria Oregon

I climbed up that tower, I forget how many steps it has but its all winding and exhausting to reach the top. Apparently Hollywood loves to film here so I took a local map and explored the place and was very delightful about my hunt.

The GOONIES Jail! Most of the film was shot here but I wan't able to go to the house, it was too darn far!

The newspaper office of The RING 2

I just took a picture of this cos it reminds me of the CHARMED manor.

I wish I was like them when I was little... Liberty Theatre, Astoria

After frolicking for the repositioning cruise, off we did the Hawaiian cruises! Endured five seadays to go to the islands and another five to go back to LA. Did this for about two months but it's all worth it. Saw what I need to see, do what i had to do, danced the hula, drove to Hana and did the luau! Alooooohaaa!

Byodo-In Temple, Northshore, Oahu, Hawaii

Had a very funny experience here, before someone enters the temple, you must ring the huge bell at the entrance by swinging the big log and hitting the bell, this process cleanse you of all your sins. So i did, i rang it, guess what, it took about 2 minutes before the bell stopped vibrating! Ahahaha! At least i'm soooo pure now! Ahahaha!

But of course, DOLE Plantation

I went above the clouds in Maui, by bus!

Haleakala Volcano Crater, 10,000ft above sea level. Maui Hawaii

The Road to Hana, 10-hour tour on uber winding roads!

The Lord is my sheperd, Hana Hawaii

Oprah bought this property, a very big property, to preserve the natural beauty of Hana, Hawaii.

O'heo Gulch. Seven Sacred Pools in Hana

Kaanapali Beach, Maui Hawaii. I jumped there twice!

A Mormon Temple in Hawaii

Canoe Parade at the Polynesian Cultural Center, Hawaii

The famous surf spot, Northshore, Oahu, Hawaii.

Sunset Beach, Northshore, Oahu, Hawaii

Turtle Beach, Northshore, Oahu, Hawaii. Where's the turtle?

Another of my favorite destination, the Panama Canal. Considered as the 8th wonder of the world, it took about 50 years to build. Before the said canal, it takes about 10 days or more for ships to travel around central america by the pacific ocean and the caribbean sea but since the Panama Canal opened, it only takes about nine hours to traverse the three locks of the man-made canal!

Summit at the Gatun Locks. Recognize me?

Summit in-transit, Miraflores Locks

Embera Indians, native inhabitants around the Panama Canal

We didn't stop at panama, we also went to several ports so i can take more pictures...

California Lighthouse, Aruba. There's a bunch of Filipinos working at the lighthouse cafe, how did i know? I heard them talking and shouting to each other, "Hoy! linisin mo na yung pinagkainan ....!" Ahahaha! I love them!

This is a ruin of a German Ship! A famous diving site and yes, i'm on a sub!

Fort of San Felipe, Cartagena Colombia. Love this country, it's like a big Intramuros with well-preserved buildings and historic sites.

The gators of Costa Rica

A taste of the Philippines, Puntarenas Costa Rica

Little Dutch Country of the Caribbean, Willemstad Curacao

This is where the world famous cliff divers do their stunt. I didn't take their pictures in action because I had to film it instead. Acapulco, Mexico

Famous for their nine pristine bays. Huatulco, Mexico

My beloved shore excursions staff. Sharon and Alvaro, if it wasn't for their department, I wouldn't be able to experience all those tours! I am grateful indeed... Cristobal Pier, Colon Panama

I actually have more pictures to show about these places but I have yet to organize them. So as the pictures of the parties and everything else. So just keep visiting here and hopefully i'll have the urge again to share some more of my precious memories.

Until my next adventure!
