Sniffing My Own
Sweat...
Last thursday, I finally met my Nth godchild for this year, Armand Gabriel Fernandez, son of Marie
Kiel, my former blockmate and once my IMC official girlfriend. Kiel and I are
supposed to get married if only I hadn't left her for my career and if only she
could've waited for my return, right Kiel? And also if she hadn't met Arnie.
HAHA! I also got to meet the other godparents, most of them are our former
university friends as well. I was so happy to see Janine and the REPists!
I miss they're After the ceremony and the reception, and the sudden arrival of a matinee
idol/former IMC talent, William Thio, I moved on to my next appointment, together
with Janine, to Sasa's surprise birthday and get-together-party! We met up with
Mai at POPEYE's(HAHA!) and somehow I've convinced them to walk around with me at
the greenhills tiangge. And since I have this weakness for vintage t-shirts, I
bought a sh*tload of them! Haha! Janine couldn't make it to the party so it was
only me and Mai who went to Sprite's house after buying that one delicious
chocolate cake with butterscotch sauce!
After the cake-eating-frenzy, they decided to go to the metrowalk... To eat
again(!?). And then we spent the rest of the night to a drinking spree courtesy
of Sasa at 7 eleven, Emerald Ave. Thanks to the company of Boy Bawang as
well, courtesy of yours truly. We all left home happy and such high spirits at
about 4am.
I had this crazy idea after this get together. What if we live on the same
house again, not as co-workers this time but in Bahay ni Kuya? There
would be so much twists, humor and drama. Love triangles, long distance
relationships, denials, identity crisis, issues, missing cameras...Ooops! Haha!
Sorry for those who didn't make it in the picture, you did miss a lot! Hehe!

Third on the Left, Fourth on the Face
I recently had a piercing done on top of my left earlobe. It's the fourth one on my face. I've already paid for the fifth one, after the girl on the shop insisted on doing home-service body piercing; "Oy, natatakot pa si sir.../Oooh, he's getting scared..." she teases. Only thing is I still couldn't figure out where to Speaking of the body, it's been a while since I last saw this single white strand of hair that grows on random places on the right side of my body. (Probably because i've been too busy exploring someone else's body for the past few months instead, but since I'm on vacation, it's about time to focus on one's own anatomy, perhaps). I always get excited whenever I notice this thing grows on me cos I know something good's gonna happen. It's been moving throughout the years. It used to be on my right forearm when I was in Grade 6 then it moved under my right ear when I was in high school. When I went to college I noticed it once grew on the right side of my chin and on the right side of my back. Now, it's on my shoulder, still on the right side. I remembered once I had a fight with one my classmates when he decided to suddenly pull this hair off and keep it with him. Man, it was such a great deal for me. It was my good luck charm and it's a part of me! If only the Oompa Loompas already exist that time. They could've burst an award-winning song and dance number in honor of my single-white-strand-hair.
Could I be any weirder?

After a month of thinking, whether I should join the exclusive FINO CLUB
and spend some $300 for its membership and other miscellaneous fees, i've finally
decided to put my selfishness aside and do something also for the benefit of my
two older brothers. After I've convinced them to clean up our storage room, I
bought about $200 worth of gym equipment; bench, bars, plates, dumbells etc. and
made our own personal gym. They were so happy about the idea. It felt weird for
me. I was thinking I should be the one that should be influenced by these two
guys and not the other way around. But it's fine, I guess. After all, were
brothers.

How's it going there...?
Every 1st of November, All Saints' Day/Todos los Santos, my family never misses the tradition of going to the cemetery to visit our dearly departed
relatives & friends; lit up a candle on their grave and offer some flowers and prayers for the eternal rest of their souls Our first stop during that day,
the 100-year-old (and probably more) Catholic Cemetery, where most of my ancestors rest. It's quite near to where we live so we just decided to go there by
foot. And after spending about two hours there, paying respects and once in a while searching for some lost tombs (which for some reasons we always lose
every year!), we decided to head home and prepare to go to our next destination, the Eternal Memorial Gardens, which in my own opinion is more a park, where
teenagers meet-up, than a final resting ground. More the reason why I like it there. Haha!
It's like this, the clan would pitch a tent on top of my grandfather's grave and then we celebrate the day with some prayers and a picnic. Everybody's
there, eating foods, lighting up candles, meeting up other people around us which has tents and foods as well, it's a party! (I could still remember several
years ago that we even spent overnights there, drinking and scaring the hell out of each other!) It's also a time for me to catch up with my cousins and
friends who were there as well if not to visit their relatives, were there to loiter and meet up with other funky people as well.
I'm also in a mission everytime I go there. I make sure that I visit my former elementary school teacher's tomb, light up a candle and offer some prayers
for her. The reason, simple, I was in high school then, it was 1995, my cousin Michelle told me that our former teacher died on a car crash and the damage to
her was pretty bad. I wasn't able to attend her funeral. Days later, she appeared on my dream. She asked me to visit her grave on the first of November or
else she'll visit me instead. Eversince then, for the past ten years, every All Saint's Day, I searched through thousands of tombstones just to pay her a
visit. We'll I actually missed last year because I was somewhere in the Mediterranean and I kinda felt safe, distance-wise, I don't think my teacher would
come after me in europe just to scare me. But since I'm here during this season, might as well say hello to her again.
But now it left me thinking, is it still reasonable to believe on that dream? Probably not but it's still worth it for me seeing and talking to my dead
teacher's 25-year-old daughter once every year! Or it still probably is. By the way, she's not the only dead person I've ever had conversation in my dream
with. I've been frequented by my aunt, grandfathers, cousins and sometimes by those friends who just recently died. It's bizaare but there's nothing I can do
or would want to do about it. I kinda like talking to them once in a while and knowing how's everything been.
I've told this dilemma to some of my friends and all they said to me is i'm just becoming more and more superstitious. Well, I don't care anymore... I'll do
what I'm told to, cos i am special!

Is it my money or it's just me?
I was with my friends the other day. The soon-to-be-married ones. Francis, the groom, told me that they're at the vicinity and I might want to tag along. Sure enough, I did. So we went to the mall, we did some printing and shopping for some materials for the wedding. And then there was an ongoing audition for the Pinoy Pop Superstar which Apaul, the bride, and I are so tempted to take part but unfortunately, t'was already on it's second elimination day. Sigh!
Off we go to the church for the location check with the Purple Cow herself, Ms. Joy Puntawe, the "wedding of the year's" production designer, to measure everything, from the length of the church aisle, the height of the doorway to the width of the walkway.
Soon after, we passed by Ryan's house and paid him a visit. Ryan's a college friend and a fellow Batangan, who also by the way undoubtedly passed his engineering board exam just recently. Hurrah!
And then suddenly while we're drinking, as if waiting for the right moment, Francis asked me a surprising question:
Is it that hard to believe? Cos I believe I still do evolve, or grow or whatever you may call it. I'm still adding inches to my height, growing hairs on certain parts of my body and my physique is constantly changing, and that includes my nose!
And to think that I fear surgery, especially "the noselift" cos once I saw an episode on Six Feet Under about a woman dying from it several years after she's had surgery when an artery/vein on her face suddenly raptured because it's been blocked by the implants. It started with the nosebleed and had a fatal ending! Whew!
Talk about having a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
