July 28th, 2000 I haven't written in a while, been traveling for work. It is a pretty stressful time for me, as I am going on a 6-week sabbatical starting on August 7th through September 15th, then returning to work for 4 weeks, then retiring! Although these are very good things, they are changes, and change is stressful. Trying to hand off my job and knowledge is a hard thing! I met with Dr. W a few days after the last entry. She had Rob and I karyotyped, which is basically to check our chromosomes for any genetic or hidden factors that may be playing into these chemical pregnancies. On my lab slip she wrote "habitual miscarrier." Ouch! My FSH and TSH were fine, although my antiocardiolipin antibody was still up. She is having me take the baby aspirin until a pregnancy is acheived, then we'll switch me to heparin injections for the duration of the pregnancy. Dr. W didn't think the antibody issue was related to my chemical pregnancies. She said that usually the antibody issue showed up after 5-8 weeks, not 5-8 days. So, the chemical pregnancies may just be a fluke, one that we ordinarily wouldn't even be aware of, if we weren't monitoring my cycle so closely.
Dr. W wanted to go ahead and move me to Gonal-f for this cycle, but since I was travelling for work, I wouldn't be able to be monitored, so we decided to try one more month of Clomid. I made sure to take all my Clomid this month, after finding two pills left over last month, and not knowing whether the pharmacist gave me too many, or I forgot to take it. Dr. W is also having me use another type of blood thinner called Trental (I think) that will hopefully do what the Viagra suppositories didn't do last time, make my lining thicker than 7mm!
So, I go in for my follicle check u/s on Monday morning, and will hopefully ovulate later in the week. Thursday or Friday would be good. I'll be at Family Camp when AF is due, so if I ovulate later in the week, I could get a blood draw closer to the right time. |
