Jamie's TTC Journal

July 18th, 2000
Well, it's been an interesting weekend.  It all started last Thursday actually. I had decided to have a beta drawn to be sure of a pregnancy, one way or another. Since I was using progesterone suppliments, it made sense to be sure before stopping the progesterone. We were going out of town for a romantic weekend at a spa, and I wanted to know if I could drink or not over the weekend.  I had the blood drawn on Thursday morning, then we headed down the coast to Big Sur. On our way down there, I got the message that my beta had been positive (!!!!) but that it was very low. So, I was tentatively pregnant. My beta was 12.7, just barely above the line between pregnant and not. I arranged to have a second beta done on Monday morning, and set out to try to forget about this news and enjoy my weekend.

And I did manange.  We had an amazingly romantic wonderful weekend at Post Ranch Inn.  You can check it out at
www.PostRanchInn.com.  It's not cheap, but it was so so worth it. We had a massage, had daily dips in our jacuzzi tub with lavendar bath salts (not too hot, just in case!) and ate wonderful food.  On Sunday night I did another Confirm hpt, figuring if my numbers had indeed gone up and I was pregnant, the Confirm should definately show up positive at this point. It wasn't. It was, in fact, clearly negative. So, I went ahead on Monday morning to get the blood draw, knowing in my heart that this wasn't to be. I got the call after lunch that day, my beta had dropped to 2.9, so I definately wasn't pregnant any more.  Another chemical pregnancy.  I have an appointment to meet with my RE on Friday morning to talk about strategy and figure out what we can do to make the next one stick. I'm traveling for the next few days, then out of town all weekend and next week, so I'll try to update this page before I go.
