In 1993 Tyke, a twenty year old elephant who had been confined for years, tried to leave a circus. She boke two of her handlers ribs but didnt succeed in escaping. On august 20 1994, while in Hawaii with another circus, she again tried to escape from the people who were forcing her to perform. Terrified and confused, she trampled her trainer to death and injured a dozon spectators as she broke out of the tent.
She was shot down and killed several blocks from the circus.
She was "owned" by the Hawthorn Corporation in Illinois and rented out like a caror moving van!, to different circuses. The Hawthorn Corporation still rents elephants to circuses, including one sad elephant who desparetly needs your help, go here |
