DiDi's Story |

My story is probably very much the same as most crossdressers. I started out when I was young, about 13 or so. I remember seeing my mother's nylons hanging over the shower bar to dry, and wondered what it would be like to feel them sliding along my legs. After a bit, the temptation to try them on was simply too great and I was "hooked". Now, 40 years later, I find that the time I spend as "DiDi" helps me cope with the harsh realities of the real world by escaping to a fantasy land where everyone is happy, and your biggest worry is whether the seams on your stockings are straight. |

What do I enjoy? Just the feeling of being "feminine" in lush full formals with LOTS of petticoats, or "stylish" in simple yet elegant dresses and skirts. Do I worry about "passing"? Yes, to a degree. If I am "out and about" I like to be perceived as a "lady" and treated as one. If it happens that I am "read" (Hey look! a guy in a dress!" ) I TRY not to let it bother me. After all, I am who I am, and what should the rest of the world care. |

A little over a year ago, I started taking square dancing lessons. If you love petticoats as much as I do, there's no feeling in the world like being twirled around the floor, petticoats flying. I joined a local glbt club, the "Cream City Squares", who not only accepted my love of wearing tradional costume, but in fact recently elected me Vice-President of the club. If you have any interest at all, I urge any of you to try it. There's a link on my links page to our club, and from there to the International association of clubs for "alternative lifestyles" that will connect you with a club near you. |

I am fortunate enough to be married to a WONDERFUL lady, who, while she does not approve of my "hobby", does tolerate it, as long as I don't "flaunt" it in front of her, or be too indiscreet when "out and about" . She SAYS she doesn't approve, but isn't afraid to ask to borrow my makeup when she runs out! One of these days I'm going to get her to go square dancing with me. |

Most crossdressers are NOT "Gay". We are heterosexual males, who for one reason or another enjoy dressing, acting, and, as best we can, BEING members of the opposite sex. Speaking for myself, it is a wonderful way to forget for the time being, all the pressures of the workaday world, and I truly believe my time as "Diane" helps make me a better person and a kinder, more patient and understanding husband.

Crossdressing is not the "be-all" of my existance either. In my "drab" time, I'm also a Model Railroader, and record collector. I specialize in 1950's and 60's pop and rock records (although I admit there's some georgeous dresses on some of those old album covers). My modelling is an HO layout depicting a branch line railroad around 1960, with a trolley/interurban line running next to it. |
