:: Trivia for The Secret Garden (1993) :: via IMDB.com

  • The costume design is so detailed that the initials "M.L." (Mary Lennox) can be seen embroidered on Mary's stockings for the split second they appear on-screen, while Mary's Ayah is dressing her at the beginning of the film.

  • The corridor leading to Colin's room and the interior of the room are decorated with tapestries depicting Edward VI, a sickly boy king who died young at the age of 16.
  • Heydon Prowse, the actor who portrayed the sickly Colin Craven, won his role in the film when auditions for the part were held at his school.

    :: Quotes ::

Dickon: The animals tell me all their secrets.
Mary: He wouldn't tell you my secret, would he?
    Dickon: About what, Miss Mary?
    Mary: A garden. I've stolen a garden.
    Mary: It's a secret garden.
Dickon: Secrets are safe with me.

Mary: I hate the way you talk about dying.
    Colin: Everyone thinks I'll die.
Mary: If everyone thought that about me, I wouldn't do it.

Mary: Can I have a bit of earth?
Lord Craven: A bit of earth?
Mary: To plant seeds in. To make things grow.

    Colin: I'm going to die.
    Mary: From what?
    Colin: Everything.
Mary: The spell was broken. My uncle learned to laugh, and I learned to cry. The secret garden is always open now. Open, and awake, and alive. If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.
