2nd Quarter Begins |

Parents, It's the beginning of a new marking period. It's hard to believe that we're a quarter of the way through first grade! Report cards will be sent home on Monday, November 3rd and conferences begin on Wednesday, November 5th. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress. Please complete the attached questionnaire and return it by Friday, October 30th. The questionnaire will help me better prepare for our conference. Also attached is a note confirming our scheduled conference time. The new quarter brings many additions to our first grade classroom. Our Centers activities become more "structured" and are designed to reinforce/assess your child's learning. Our computer projects will also support our curriculum. Beginning Friday, November 14th, we'll add Writer's Workshop to our schedule. The children will be learning about the writing process as well as the mechanics of writing. Mom volunteers will be coming in to help us edit and publish our work. We will begin by making class books and, eventually, individual books. Parents, please continue to practice the wordbooks with your child. Several children are ready to move on to leveled readers as well as our long vowel wordbook. Don't forget this Friday is our All Saints Day celebration. The children are asked to dress up like a Saint. We will attend Mass with our 8th Grade Buddies in the morning and enjoy a class celebration in the afternoon. Have a great week! Ms. Kopilchack |
