Photographs of Scotland by David McConnell Hunter JOURNEY SOUTH |

In this section we head south to the River Clyde (in reality to get back to Glasgow Airport) crossing from Mull past the Eilean Musdile Lighthouse to Oban. Apart from a brief hiking/camping trip into the Cairngorms, all of the photos on this site were taken in regions easily accessible by car. However, it is still possible to get around Scotland by train, bus or boat. In fact there was a time -- from the mid-1800s to the 1960s -- when travel by steamboat was the preferred, if not the only, method of reaching out of the way places. As you can see, this photograph shows just how popular this method of transportation was! |
