OLD GENTLEMAN COMMITS SUICIDE WITH CARBOLIC ACID. HARDIN COUNTY MAN FOUND IN HOLE UNDER BLUFF AFTER BEING MISSED SEVERAL DAYS

The finding of the body of William Denton Sr. under the bluff, dead, one day last week, caused a great excitement through this part of the county. The place he selected was at the foot of Johnson Hollow, under what is known as the Leonberger bluff, taking his belongings and a bottle of carbolic acid with him. He crawled into a hole some 6 - 8 feet back in the rock and there he drank his final drink. He was thought to have died almost instantly, for he still had on his hat and glasses. He had been missing 5 or 6 days, but was thought to have gone to his sisters. He had told others that he had meant to live under the bluff this winter, but no one gave it a thought until it was too late to find his body in a presentable condition. Peace to the ashes of this good old man and sympathy to his children.
