Welcome to Mr. Heineman’s prayer homepage

Here you will find links that may help you to think about praying and prepare for leading prayer in class.

SOME BASIC PRAYER IDEAS:

Ø    Prayers can be made for various reasons:

·       Thanksgiving (what blessings have you received in your life?)

·       Supplication (what should we ask for from God?)

·       Contrition (what should we ask forgiveness for from God?)

·       Adoration (how can we offer praise to God?)

The Bible:

v   Each day there are readings that are assigned to be read at mass.

v   If one of these readings strikes you, you could read it out loud.

v   If you choose this, make sure you’ve read it ahead of time.

v   Be ready to say something about it (what do you think it means?  How does it speak to you?)

This link will show the readings of the day.

Famous prayers from the Church’s history:

v   Certain prayers have been handed down over time that are particularly significant to the Church and the faithful.

v   These may be prayers you are familiar and comfortable with.

Patron Saints

v   Famous men and women throughout the ages have been models of faith.  They are celebrated throughout the year at various times and for various reasons.

v   The following website is an index of thousands (literally) of saints who you could find out about.

v   Look up the Saint(s) for your name, or the day you’re praying, or an interest of yours.
