| Meet the Shiver WC DH. The shiver is essentially a scaled down version of the Shiver for motocross. It's new for 2001 and it looks good. It'a a bit lighter than the Monster triple and it has more travel (M.T.=175mm--Shiver=190mm, 7.5 in) The shiver weights 8.4 pounds, a bit heavy, but not bad. The best part is that it's strong and stiff for huge freeriding drops and downhill. Beyond keeping the fork clean and replacing bushings and seals as they wear out, the shiver requires less maintnance than it's competitors, Rock Shox and Manitou. The extra weight starts to work against the Shiver in slower, more technical sections-when you really have to throw the bike around, it's not as quick as the lighter-weight forks. Where the Shiver really shines is and this is not a surprise, is in extreme freeride situations. It is absolutely the one that we where the more comftable with for big drops and hard impacts, as it was the most forgiving of small errors in these situations. Overall the Shiver is a great fork, and oh yeah, it kicks ass. Contact: Marzocchi, (661)-257-6630 or on the web at www.marzocchi.com |
