W4SRL  (Dave)        Let's talk Ham Radio
I have been a Ham for 46 years. Somewhat active most of the time. I am only working 2 meters at this present time. I would like to get back on 20 meters but don't have a beam now. I used to work this band most all the time before I moved to where I am now.  Be looking to hear from you.

Tip for the day: Don't forget God , He hasn't forgot you! QSL,,,,,,,,,?
Here is a little background of my life:

I was born in Los Angeles, Calif. in l931 and moved to Jacksonville Florida three years later. I was raised and lived there until 1948, when I went into the Army.

After basic training at Fort Jackson SC. I was sent to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. For about a year I received training in radio electronics. I was certified as a radio repairman.

After a short few weeks of leave to visit my family I was sent to Japan and joined a radio telephone Company. I was given a repair van equiped for servicing FM transmitters and receivers used in radio telephone and telegraph.

There I met a fellow soldier doing about the same thing I was doing. He was a Ham. Well, I had been some-what interested even before the Army but didn't know how to get a ticket.  He made a strong impression on me but I just didn't persue it.

On June 25th.1950  Our outfit was suddenly shipped out to a Country that I didn't even know exsisted.
Korea! This was War and no more time for playing with hobbys. I was there 18 months suppling radio telephone communications to the front lines.

In December of 1951 I was sent back to the States.  I had been writing a girl for three years that I had never seen except by photo. I went straight to where she lived and within 30 days we were married. That marriage is now 55 years old and we still love each other.

I was working in an aircraft plant when I met a fellow that was a Ham and he helped me to get my ticket.  I have had many hours of fun since that day to now.

At the present time I am using Kenwood TS 530 S on hf. I also have a TS 520 which I need some parts for. I also have some HeathKit rigs as well. Apache  TX-1 with SB 10 and the matching receiver Mohawk RX-!.   Also a DX 100B  transmitter. Over there on the shelf sits and old National Receiver with it's matching speaker unit. I'm using a Butternut  HF 6V  trap vertical ant. Also have a 2 meter rig in the car Kenwood 231. That's about the run down on the shack here.

I credit my long enjoyfble life to the fact that I have lived for the Lord for many years. There was a time when I wasn't, but one day I prayed a little prayer something like this; O God I know you are real and I believe the Bible is true. It said Jesus came and died for sinners and I am a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins and I will live for you, the rest of my life.  One day Jesus is coming back to receive all the people that have prayed that prayer.

How about you? Are you going? Have you prayed that prayer and meant it with all your heart? If you have not done this yet, why not do it NOW. You will be glad.
