Catherine Bean, one of eight known children of Thomas Henry Bean and Lucinda Finch, married Horace Barrett on September 18, 1859 in Jefferson County, Illinois. They had three known children, two sons and one daughter. Catherine next married Jacob J. Short on October 11, 1883 in Franklin County, Illinois, and they had a son.  All four children eventually migrated to Cardwell, Dunklin County, Missouri.
