The Great Plains Chapter  of the
Distinguished Flying Cross Society of The State of Nebraska

Article I
Name
The name if this organization shall be
�_The Great Plains Chapter of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society (DFC) �

Article II
Purpose
Section 1.  The purpose and aims of the Great Plains Chapter of the DFC Society shall be to foster fraternal relations among former members of the uniformed services of the United States of America who have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), and family members of those who have been awarded the DFC.

Section 2.  To promote the aims of the national DFC Society as stated in the By-Laws of the national association.

Section 3.  To conduct periodic meetings and activities with its members to provide patriotic, historical, educational and social activities to perpetuate the significance of deeds accomplished by members of the DFC Society.

Article III
Membership Classification

Section 1.   Regular membership is authorized for all persons who have been awarded the DFC and are recognized members of the national DFC Society.

Section 2.  Associate membership is authorized for spouses and children of all active members of the DFC Society, as well as spouses and children of deceased persons who have been awarded the DFC.  Associate members shall not be required to pay local chapter dues.  Associate members may participate in all activities of the chapter.  However, they shall not have any voting privileges.

Section 3  Honorary Great Plains Chapter members, appointed by the National DFC Society, shall be recognized by this chapter.  (Honorary memberships are awarded by the national organization to persons who have provided significant financial support or have made other important contributions to the DFC Society.)
Section 4.  Voting shall be restricted to regular members who are currently recognized by the DFC Society.  All matters coming before the chapter will be decided by a majority vote.  

Section 5.  Dues, if required, shall be as established by the Executive Committee consisting of the elected officers (more than 50%).

Section 6.  Termination of Membership.  Recommendation for membership termination may be made to National by a majority vote of chapter membership.  Chapter Officers will give the member as least 30 days written notice by first class or certified mail of the termination recommendation, the reason, and an opportunity for the member to be heard by a board made up of Chapter Officers, orally or in writing, not less than five days before the recommended date of termination.  The final decision by National shall final and shall not be reviewable by any court.

Article IV
Officers
Section 1.  The elected officers shall be president, vice-president, a secretary and treasurer, each of whom shall be a member of the DFC Society.  Each  of these officers shall serve as members of the Executive Committee.  If the chapter level of membership is below (30)  persons, the secretary and treasurer may be a single officer.

Section 2.  The officers shall be elected annually by a majority vote of the membership.  Each selected officer shall take office at the annual meeting normally to be held in the month of December, the anniversary month of the organizational meeting of the Great Plains Chapter.

Section 3.  No member shall serve as president, vice-president or secretary/treasurer for more than one term unless an exception is allowed by unanimous vote of the executive committee (term shall be one year).  If a vacancy in the office of the president occurs, that office is automatically filled by the vice-president whose office shall be automatically filled by the secretary, etc., etc.  Vacancies in other officer positions may be filled by appointment by the executive committee.

Section 4.  Additional officers may be appointed by the president to fill such duties as chairman of committees including: a Membership b. Planning/Activities c, Audit, and  d. Special Projects.
