William Branham and Branhamism

In 1909, William Branham was born to a non-practicing Roman Catholic family in Kentucky, USA. Branham claimed that he was visisted by an angel at age 7 who told him to never defile his body. He said that this angel always stayed with him and that he could never preach unless the angel was standing beside him.

Branham denied the doctrine of the
Trinity and preferred a form of Oneness teaching. He also promoted the Serpent Seed doctrine which garnered him support from Klu Klux Klan on occasions. I would say that anyone who embraces and teaches Serpent Seed doctrine is a cult.

Branham taught that God didn't approve of water baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He also taught that Christian denominations were of the devil.

Branham falsely prophesied that America would be destroyed in 1977.

Branham demonstrated the dangers of adhering to an allegorical interpretation of scripture.

He died in a car wreck in 1965.
