Single Man Takes Off to International Adoption

WHEN a single man makes it known he wants to have a family without the benefit of a woman, he is almost invariably looked at like some sort of freak! "You aren't married!" he's told. "You can't be both Mom and Dad to kids! They'll need a mother's influence! A woman's touch!"

WELL, it's not always true. There are plenty of men in this world who are ready to accept fatherhood without marriage. Often, the test comes when the wife dies and the man is forced to raise his child/ren alone. He doesn't have time for a social life that includes "wife hunting" so he committs himself to the full-time task of being "Dad". Other times, divorced men assume the responsibility of the children when they are granted custody by a judge who overlooks the sexual prejudice that "only women are nurturing". Finally there are men who don't want to get married but want a family, so, they adopt. Any way it happens, there are many men in the world who are Single Men Adopting and Parenting.

What follows is my journey in parenting complete with the unexpected turbulence, boucing landings, aborted take-offs, etc. It's a facinating journey and Buckle Your Seatbelts, Please!
