A New Beginning For Cythnia
Chapter 4
By Cythnia

Cynthia had spoken to Mitchell online and confirmed that he would be arriving Friday night via Delta Air at 7 pm. Today was Wednesday. Only two days to wait, but, to Cynthia they felt like a lifetime. She could hardly concentrate while at work. At home, she was scurrying around cleaning, rearranging furniture. She wanted everything to be perfect. She wondered to herself what kind of food Mitchell liked? She had never taken the time to ask him. She also wondered if he would be expecting to stay at her place or if he would be getting himself a hotel room. How do I ask without sounding too forward? I must find out though. With that she headed to the computer.

She got online and went straight to ICQ. No sign of him. None at all. Where was he? Why wasnt he online? Cynthia wasnt sure why, but for the first time in weeks Mitchell was no where to be found. He was on every night until now. Her mind started racing. What if something happened to him? What if he changed his mind and is avoiding me now? No silly, he wouldnt do that. Or, would he? Cynthia spent the evening chatting with other ICQ friends, hoping Mitchell would eventually show up. He didnt.

Cynthia signed off that night very upset. This wasnt like him. Yet, there was nothing she could do. She realized she didnt have a phone number or even his last name? All she could do now is wait. Maybe he had to work late. Yes, that must be it she told herself. He will be there tomorrow.

She got herself ready for bed and crawled in. Cynthia found herself having a hard time falling asleep. She couldnt stop thinking about this guy. She had almost drifted off to sleep when her phone rang.

"Hello" she answered sleepily.

"Hi there, " Mitchell said. "Cynthia, is that you?"

"Yes, this is Cynthia. Who is calling?" she asked this unfamiliar voice.

"This is Mitchell. I am at the Holiday Inn. Thought I would surprise you and come in early.

Can you come right over to meet me?" he asked.

Cynthias heart started pounding, her hands so clammy now. "You mean you are really here?"

She couldnt believe it!

"Yes, darling, I am really here. I am dying to see you too! How soon can you get here?" he asked.

"Well, give me a half hour or so. I was in bed so I need to get dressed okay?" she replied.

She was still amazed at what she was hearing.

"Okay, I will be waiting for you in the lounge. I am wearing a black and white shirt, and blue jeans. I cant wait to see you! Hurry okay?"

"Okay, I will be there as soon as I can".

Cynthia hung up the phone and began running around her room in a frenzy. What will I wear? Oh God, and my hair! Its a mess! I need to make a good first impression. She scurried around, heaving things out of her closet as she looked for the perfect outfit. Finally, she found it, her favorite deep teal green pant suit. She had been told by many how great she looked in it. It matched her eyes and went well with her hair color and facial tones.

When Cynthia arrived at the hotel she had to stop for a moment just to catch her breath. She was so excited whe was almost hyperventilating. Once she felt she had composed herself, she entered the lounge. It was quite dark, with a fair number of people around. The song "Truly, Madly, Deeply, by Savage Garden was playing. It was one of her favorites. She looked around, searching. All at once, she felt these hands on her shoulders.

She heard a voice say "Its about time you got here." She slowly turned around. She was staring into this beautiful face. He was better than she ever could have imagined! His pics he had sent her did not do him justice. He was an angel!

"Hi. You kinda startled me!"

Cynthia broke out into a laugh.

"I recognized you the minute you walked in! Those terrific legs gave you away"

"Well, thanks, I hadnt spotted you yet. Where did you come from anyway?"

"I have to confess, I was waiting just outside the lobby, waiting and watching for you. I wanted to surprise you."

He smiled that terrific smile of his.

"You certainly did that already! I wasnt expecting you until Friday? How did you manage to get here so quickly?" she asked.

"I got a great deal on my ticket to come today, so, here I am. Besides, I couldnt wait to get here and meet you!"

"I am glad you are here. It is great to finally see the real you."

"I am happy to finally meet you too. Lets go and sit and get ourselves a drink, shall we?"

He wrapped his arm around her waist and led her into the lounge. Cynthia felt herself melting when she looked at him.

"Okay, sounds great to me."

She was happy that found it hard to wipe the smile off of her face.

They spent the rest of the evening chatting about everything and anything. As the evening wnt on they both found that they had more in common than either of them had ever imagined. One of these things was their love for the outdoors. They decided it would be great to spend the rest of the weekend at a nearby lake that Cynthia loved to go to.

Mitchell was going to spend the night in the hotel, but, by the end of the evening, Cynthia got up the courage to ask him to come and stay at her place. He agreed to come as long as he slept on the couch. Cynthia was quite pleased with this as again he was portraying what a perfect gentleman he was. This guy was one in a million!
