For over two decades it has been an international mystery as to what really happened during the late summer and fall of 1980 in the small town of Brookfield, Connecticut.
The story wouldn't become public knowledge until February of 1981, when a young man named Arne Cheyenne Johnson attempted an unprecedented plea of not guilty by reason of demonic possession in the stabbing death of forty-one year old Alan Bono.

According to his attorney, his friends, and members of his family, Johnson was
possessed by demons at the time of the murder and therefore could not be held responsible for the crime. His attorney, Martin Minella, was prepared to demonstrate to the Danbury Superior Court and jury that Johnson was possessed as a direct result of challenging the demons who had taken possession of his girlfriend's youngest brother, eleven year old David Glatzel, a full eight months before when the child and family were attacked by demonic spirits. The evidence consisted of photographs and tape recordings of the child under possession and testimony from six Roman Catholic priests who were involved in four failed rituals of exorcism. The testimony was also to come from two of the world's most famous psychic investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were involved in the case since July of 1980. The bizarre murder case made headlines across the country and within weeks, the entire world.

Johnson's plea was rejected by the court and he was found guilty of man slaughter and served five years in prison. The story detailing the horribile demonic attack upon the Glatzel family was released as a book,
THE DEVIL IN CONNECTICUT (1983)(2006), and an ABC made-for-television movie THE DEMON MURDER CASE (1983). The story was recently featured in a Discovery Channel series A HAUNTING: WHERE DEMONS DWELL and a binding contract was signed in 2006 to develop the story into a major motion picture which was scheduled to begin shooting this past fall.

What really happened back between 1980 and 1983 in Brookfield, Connecticut? Was a young boy really possessed by demons? Did a man actually commit murder under demonic possession? What happened to the child and the family involved? What about the priests and the witnesses? Could any of it possibly be true? The
REAL truth can be found here.

For the first time ever, one family member has finally decided to set the story straight. Sitting silent for over twenty five years, Carl Glatzel Jr. has watched this story destroy his family and the lives of those involved around him. As David's oldest brother, Carl was there throughout the ordeal, but at fifteen, there was very little he could do help his younger brother as he was abused, manipulated, and exploited. Carl's story is a riveting and devastating exposure of greed, lies, and money that surrounds one of the country's most bizarre murder stories. In
Alone Through the Valley, Carl and David give a fascinating and detailed account of one of our nation's biggest hoaxes in the past quarter century right up to present day where the drama continues to unfold. There is an important lesson and  message in their story, and they are not alone. Ignore it at your own risk.
