News from September

Well, I tried to avoid it, I dodged, I weaved, I ignored it, but I've been forced to go back and look at he rulebook again and make some (shudder) alterataions. First off, a rule-change; Shooting and moving are no longer seperate procedures. You can now take a shooting action at any point during your move. This was really needed because #1) turns were taking too long to get through and #2) there were some anomalies in initiative advantage otherwise. This fixes that nicely as now it is always to your advantage to win the initiative. Other than that I want to take a second look at formatting to see if I can make it easier to find information (for instance, having half the information you need when making a new team at the front of the book is causing some difficulties with some people). Other than that, except for a wisely aborted race last week we still havent started our season. Just as well, if looks like we might pick up two or even three more teams by stalling a bit. More the merrier after all.

Two new teams have joined the league, The South Carolina Triple R's (which I'm told stands for, 'Reedin, Ritin, n' Racin!') and the San Fransico Fabulous Fantastiks.
Triple R's run a good mechanic staff, a seven-man roster (including a dog named Lou), and field two kinds of cars. Two of thier cars are called 'Red Rockets' and sport extremely-high engine performance (ACC 4) and triple-rocket mounts in the front, coupled with only mediocre handling could make races with these machines a specator's dream. Their third car, The Big Nasty is essencially a giant tank (though the design has not yet been finalized).
The Fabulous Fantastiks have a fabulous six-man roster, a competant staff of mechanics, and a three-car stable. Thier cars are set-up for very good handling and firepower facing both front-and-rear, though the smaller cars are somewhat fragile. Team colors are a fabulous pink-and-purple design.

Well, due to events well beyond my control (who knew it was my Grandad's 93rd birthday last weekend?!) we missed what I had hoped to be the kickoff for our inaugreal season. Not to fret though, after a bit of discussing I think we pretty much have things hammered out for this Saturday to be our season opener. I expect much bloodshed, glory, and beer consumption to take place so hang on to your hats.
In slightly more relevant news, the Denver Mile-High is designed and will likely host season opener event (I suspect a race is very likely). The next event will take place in the Spokane Expo Center and will likely be a flags special event. Track sections are available for download as well. Just download and open the zip-file and print and cut them out (I suggest cardstock, but if you have a friend that's prone to spilling things maybe something cheaper would be prefferable).
Back to the salt-mines for me. Remember to keep your eyes on the prize.
