I started playing golf at the age of 18. Before that I was actively playing Tennis, Volleyball,
and Triathlon, but I needed a new challenge. My Dad who is a tennis and triathlon coach in Germany
was the one who introduced me to this fascinating game of golf. I didn’t get much instruction,
however I developed a natural swing, and people were impressed. But when I came
to Connecticut as an Au Pair I met my coach Bob Montello, and realized that my swing had some
flaws and that there is much more to golf than mechanics.
Since then I have been working almost daily on my mechanics, and my swing has improved
tremendously. Besides the daily work on my game I work out regularly on physical strength and conditioning.
Injury prevention is also a big factor in my conditioning program and I put great emphasis on maintaining
my most valuable asset.
My overall health has always been very good, because I have been actively involved with playing sports my whole
life. I used to play team sports such as Handball, Volleyball, and Basketball as well as single player
sports such as Tennis and Triathlon. Having this vast background in different sports, allows me to capitalize on my
strength and incorporate and use what I've learned into my golf game.
Triathlon for example taught me perseverance and endurance. Tennis on the other hand taught me mental
toughness, which is essential for golf. Even horseback riding has helped me with my approach to learning the game.
The mental side of the game is one of the key points in golf and separates good from very good
players. Some even say that it makes up 90 percent of the game. I have been reading a lot about the mind game, because I know how important it is.
I am also working with mental coaches. Craig Sigl, James Robertson, Carey Mumford, Tom Kubistant and Bob Warren have
all been instrumental in my mental development.
I am also working with
Geoff Mangum
who is a Putting Guru from Greensboro and offers the world's most advanced and comprehensive
putting instruction. Working with him has helped me with a total understanding of every
aspect of putting and has saved me a few strokes a round to say the least.
My parents have always said that I am very goal oriented and if I have something in my mind,
I always do everything possible to achieve it as soon as possible. With that in mind and my
passion for the game and love to practice, my goal is to sooner or later be on the top of the
leader boards and fulfill my dream to become a professional player.
I think that it is quite interesting that I have the exact same personality type as Jack Nicklaus,
one of the probably most successful players in the history of golf.
