After the police arrived and the wounded were tended to, Dr. Wen talked to Phillip in a nearby coffee shop trying to calm the confused young man.

I just dodged bullets from a Uziits not possible. I dodged the entire clip Chiang said, still shuddering.

Wen merely sat there holding his hands, then looked up to him.

No, it is possible, now that you are awake, Phillip. This and a whole world of possibilities you never dreamed of. Ive been waiting for you.

Thus began his life among the Wu Lung of Los Angeles. Amy was the local leader of the Wu Lungs Phoenix school, a healer and prone to prophetic visions, she had been dreaming of Phillip for sometime before he had arrived. Since that time she had been subtly guiding him and watching over him until his awakening. Now awakened at last she was free to bring him into the fold, first under her tutelage then leaving him to chose his own path.
Chiang had already shown prowess as a martial artist when brought into the Wu Lung. Observing his skill and intense dedication as well as Wen becoming aware of his Avatar, she suggested that he study for a time with the Tiger school. While here he came in contact with the Wu Lungs's former foes, now allies, the Akasakarma. A kannagara studying with members there took to watching Chiang who humbly never bothered the monk. Instead accepting all that his teacher put upon him. When the Akashic monk finally question Chiang, he replied that to honor ones teacher is to respect his/her judgement on what he should learn. To demand that which one may not be ready for would be folly and disrespectful.

Impressed by the young man's wisdom and lack of arrogance he started to tutor him. seeing in him shades of Fei Hong as time passed he challenged Xianxuan's gifts teaching in the old traditions founded by the brotherhood at Shaolin. This seemed to suit Chiang giving him more focus. The members of the Dragon school eventually cut their training short. The leaders of the Wu Lung had determined that one with Chiang's gifts and powerful, legendary Avatar should not be wasted as a simple warrior.

Despite his strong desire to help the common man and his community, Xianxuan has always wanted to build something lasting and in this desire chose the Dragon school. To the irritation of some of his teachers, he remains close to the Phoenix school (especially Wen) and excels still in healing magics. Phillip finished his degree and internship in Los Angeles, remaining there several years after. During this time he has studied diligently, both as doctor, mage and historian gaining the respect of his superiors and peers alike.

Recently, he has moved from Los Angeles to Necropolis, MO at the request of one of his teachers from college. The Asian populated area of Little Asia was apparently in need of a physician, lacking a local major hospital and major clinic. He looks to help the community in any way he can and perhaps find a place to build something of lasting value and be like the man whose legend has guided him his entire life.
