The Way of the Warrior
(our own Tao on Martial Arts and Combat online for Shih & Strikeforce Zero members)

Ok, here is where things will get interesting. This page is dedicated to WoD fighting as far as the DHX is concerned. It may get a bit crazy for a sec, but bare with me.
To begin, all moves and styles represented in Demon Hunter X, Vampire, Werewolf, Wod:Combat, KoE and the KoE companion are acceptable.

One of the things you will notice is that there are slight differences in the way the moves work. Thsi will be resolved by the ST present. Just let him/her kow what you are doing BEFORE you use the move so they can make the calls. Remember, the ST has the final say...work with them and things will run smoothly. If they need info for the call, try to be accomidating.

With that said, lets talk specifics...

The Shih

The Shih are some of the most dangerous opponents in Year of the Lotus' WoD on several fronts, most notably in Martial Arts. In creation they are mandated to have highg ability scores in Martial Arts, Melee and Dodge. Furthermore they have a distinctive style of combat known as Mo Chi kung Fu.

Players are encouraged to take advantage of the powerful style and moves in addition to those found in the other WW source books. Purchacing them has been simplified into a trade equation giving players slots based on their level of Brawl, Dodge, Martial Arts, Athletics or Melee.

The warrior/judges known as the Shih have a rich history linking them to Mages of the Akashic Brotherhood or the Wu Lung. This link to the Mages of the East explains the occassional use of Do by Shih. Indeed, many of the moves and techniques used by the Shih resemble Do and Mo Chi Kung Fu may actually be a very directed for of the art. With this in mind Shih who use Do may do so at twice the cost and must define which mauneuvers they have learned from the art.

Furthermore no Shih may start play with a Do rating above 1 or ever reach a Do rating of 5. Do is the domain of the Mages of the East. While Shih are close cousins, they are not a sect of Mages.

As part of training, Martial artists are taught several things other than just fighting and mauevers. They are honed mentally and spiritually as well. Most of the dedicated martial Artsist I have been blessed to know are the most serene, peaceful people you could hope to encounter. To reflect this IC (in Character) I suggest the purchase of knowledge or secondary skills such as:

Meditation
Specific martial Art (
karate, judo, Kung Fu, etc.)
Medicine
Qigong
Philosophy
Anatomy
Religion
History

Remember, although Shih are lethal opponents, they should also remain well rounded Characters, not just killing machines. In time this balance may help you.

StrikeForce Zero And Other Normal Folks

The others who hunt the Shen are also often accomplished warriors, however none have the single minded detcation or the magical background of the shih. Hence, they seldom approach the level of mad skill the Demon Hunter children of Yi possess.
Characters made from Hunter's Hunted or Strikeforce Zero are restricted to normal Martial Arts & Brawl manuvers.

Each of these groups have other additions that make them combat effective namely numina or for SFO implants.

The rules for learning MA are the same for these groups as they are for the Shih and I still recommend taking knowledege based secondary skills to represent the mental part of MA training.
