Gaara was born in the Hidden Sand Village, in Wind Country, when he was born his mother died giving birth to him, and his Father the Kaze-Kage, offered Gaara to the evil spirit Shukaku, who was maintained in a tea kettle, Gaara's mother, with her last breath swore veagenence and Gaara recieved his name to hate the world and the people who killed his mother, upon the age of six, Gaara's Uncle Yaushumaru, was his gaurdian, Gaara was a spoiled kid, who began to feel that he had never felt real love, or passion from people around him, As he grew older he was the target of numerous hired killers, including Yashumaru, whos words forced gaara to tatoo the love kanji on his head, which is the first recorded time he bled.
