I was up early to receive my final room service breakfast for the cruise. Since I was driving all the way home to New Mexico, my request for an early disembarkation was granted and I was in the "Black 4" group. I dressed and went up to the Lido Buffet for "one more glass" of fresh squeezed orange juice and walked around the upper decks of the ship. Crew members were busy preparing for the next set of passengers and I couldn't help but wish I were sailing again.
Passengers are allowed to wait for disembarkation in lounges or in their staterooms tuning into channel 39. I chose to wait in the Windstar Cafe. My disembarkation group was called about 8:45 a.m. and I quickly went through customs and found my luggage. The shuttle where my car was parked for the week arrived with ten minutes, and I was on the road home by 10:15 a.m. The disembarkation process was "painless," unless you consider that you are leaving "paradise" and returning home.
