Theophiel De Ruyver

(1873 - 1929)

Theophiel De Ruyver was born on May 13, 1873, and married Silvie Fouquart. Silvie was the daughter of Charles Fouquart and Maria Catherina Tuypens. She was born in Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove (now part of the City of Zottegem) on January 3, 1874. During their marriage, Theophiel and Silvie lived in Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove, where they got 4 daughters and 2 sons. While Silvie organized the housekeeping, Theophiel worked first as farmer, later (probably after World War I) he went commuting to the neighboring French-speaking Province of Hainaut where he was employed as miner in the coal mines. His two sons, too, would follow him to the mines of Hainaut. Theophiel died on September 25, 1929, and Silvie on December 21, 1933, both in Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove. Five of their children had descendants, leaving Theophiel and Silvie 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren by 1985.
