Day 3: Buckingham Palace, Westminster
Day 3 -- Wednesday  -- 11/12/02 -
                 Westminster:
On the winter time the changing of the guard in Buckingham palace is only every other day -- so I started today at Hyde Park Corner -- next to Wellington's Arch and from there I walked along Green Park, on Constitution Avenue to Buckingham Palace in time to see
*** The Changing of the Guards which was very nice (the band played Abba songs and the theme from Austin Powers). From there I went back to Trafalgar square and into Whitehall Street. I walked on the right side of the street and I missed the Banqueting House which is very unimpressive on the outside (later I found it but it was closed for a concert). I walked along the street until I reached the Parliament -- which was closed for visitors. I saw ** The Jewel Tower which houses a great exhibition of the History of Parliament (about an hour to see), and from it I went to *** Westminster Abby -- in which I took a guided tour -- as there is so much to see in the abby -- the tour is worth the money.
After the tour ended I walked south passed Henry Moor's statue until I reached Tate Britain Museum (One hour suffices).
The Museum is closed to Pimlico Tube Station.
