| Day 24 -- Wednesday -- 01/01/03 -- New Years Day Leads Castle & Canterbury: I took a London Walk Tour to Lead's Castle and the Canterbury. The train ride from London takes about two hours. Lead's Castle was built by William the Conqueror for his beloved wife Eleanor. Henry IV rebuilt it for his wife Catherine and Henry VIII lived there with his first wife. The castle is beautiful and is built on two Islands. Later it was used as a prison and was ruined, until, in the 20th century an American named Lady Baily bought it and rebuilt it. From the castle we went to Canterbury and saw the town and the great Cathedral (which was closed so we didnt see it from inside).
