Day 12: The British Museum
Day 12 - Friday - 20/12/02 -

     *** The British Museum:
The inner courtyard of the museum was build for the millennium celebration and is now called the Queen Elizabeth II Court - and indeed it is magnificent - with it's glass roof - where each glass panel in the roof is unique. At the middle is the fabulous reading room with it's great glass dome and golden ceiling. I took a guided highlight tour of the museum ( which worth the money) and then took a specific tour (free) of the Greek sculptures and the Parthenon. The museum gives excellent free tours every half hour between 11:00 - 16:00.
The best exhibition, apart for the mummies was a special exhibition - Fields for the British Isles - with thousands of little clay figures looking back at you as you look at them through the door of the exhibition gallery.
Beware of the food in the courtyard cafeteria which is not so good and very expansive. (see
