Lesiem's first album has more than a little of everthing. The tracks have enough common ground to form a consistent whole, but they are also excell enough in various ways that I feel compelled to mention at least half of them individually:
Fundamentum - apparently, whoever's in charge of Lesiem feels that this is one of their best songs - they posted a ten-and-a-half-minute, live version on their site. This track truly features the chorus, demonstrating how powerful and driving a male choir can be.
The Pink Floyd factor - when I bought that album, there was a sticker afixed to it that said "Pink Floyd meets Enigma" - its quite accurate. The guitar work on a number of songs (track 4, Vivere is a fine example) truly is very reminiscent of Pink Floyd ideal. Enigma certainly uses guitars, as do others in the genre, but I haven't heard this guitar style used anywhere else. It takes a little getting used to, but its really nice once you've adjusted.
Miracle Eyes is a perfect example of the angelic female lead vocals scattered throughout the album (quite a few different vocalists are used). They're similar to Sarah Brightman's poppier material.
Indalo features what sound to me like African vocals to me. They're very beautiful, and cause this to be one of the most recognizable tracks.
Floreat has a very unusual vocal line - its a man telling (speaking, not singing) a story from the perspective a medieval character (I think...). Its a bit dark, but interesting.
Liberta adds variety to the drum lines on the track. The rhythm here sounds more like an orchestral percussion section than a trip-hop or electro group. Combined with the choir, this gives the track a fairly cinematic feel.
This album is hard to top - I think they might have done it with their second album, though. They should both be high on your "to buy" list.
