| Target Badge
To gain the badge, a Boy must be a regular member of the company for at least three months, have satisfactorily completed a course of instruction and passed a written test. |
| NCO Proficiency Star
Stage 1 Awarded to Boys of 13 age or more who have the Drill award stage 1 and at least two other proficiency awards. He must have successfully completed and passed the prescribed test of the course. This training course shall be conducted by the companies and the test administered by a neutral officer. Stage 2 Awarded to NCOs of 14 age or more who hold the NCO Proficiency Star Stage 1 gained in a previous session, and have the Drill Sage 2 and two other proficiency award at stage 2 also. He must have successfully completed and passed the test of the course. This residential training course shall be conducted by the districts. |
| Arts, Crafts and Hobbies Awards
Stage 1 Awarded to Boys who have participated in an activity over a period of three months with at least 7 hours of practical work. Stage 2 Awarded to Boys who hold the stage 1 award gained in a previous session and have participated for a further three months in the same activity at a high standard or in another activity under the same heading. A minimum of 10 hours of practical works is required. Stage 3 Awarded to Boys who hold the stage 2 award gained in a previous session and who have participated for a further three months in the same activity at a higher standard or in another activity under the same heading. The activity should involve a minimum of 12 hours of practical work. |
| Canoeing Award
Stage 1 Awarded to Boys of 13 age or more who have attended regularly a course of instruction, and qualify. Boys who have passed the Peoples Association Novice Course may apply for this stage. Stage 2 Awarded to Boys of 14 age or more who hold the stage 1 award gained in a previous session, who have attended regularly a further course of instruction and qualify. Boys who have passed the Peoples Association Sea Proficiency Course may apply for this stage. Stage 3 Awarded to Boys of 15 age or more who hold the stage 2 award gained in a previous session, who have attended regularly a further course of instruction and qualify. |
| Christian Education Stage 1 Awarded to Boys who have attended regularly a course of instruction approved by the companys chaplain or the Senior Section Programme Committee, and who show a general understanding of the particular passages or the topics of Scripture included in the course. Stage 2 Awarded to Boys who hold the stage 1 gained in a precious session, who have attended regularly a further course of instruction approved by the company chaplain or the Senior Section Programme Committee. The Boy must show a general understanding of the particular topics or passages of scripture included in the course, with particular reference to the application of the Christian faith to everyday life, based on personal relationship e.g. daily work, personal behavior and conduct, gambling, temperance etc. Stage 3 Awarded to Boys who hold the stage 2 awarded gained in a precious session, who have attended regularly a further course of instruction approved by the company chaplain or the Senior Section Programme Committee. The Boy must show a general understanding of the particular topics or passages of scripture included in the course, with particular reference to the application to community relationship in everyday life, e.g. local government, social services, international relations, etc. |
| Citizenship Award
The Citizenship Award syllabus shall be the Total Defence Badge syllabus as provided by the National Education Office, Ministry of Defence (Singapore). Stage 1 (Total Defence - Bronze) Awarded to Boys of 12 age or more who attended regularly a course of instruction. Stage 2 (Total Defence Silver) Awarded to Boys of 13 age or more who hold the Stage 1 award gained in a previous session, who have participated in a course of instruction. Stage 3 (Total Defence - Gold) Awarded to Boys of 14 age or more who hold the stage 2 award gained in a previous session, and who have participated in a course of instruction. |
| Community Service Awards
These services to be carried out must be of a practical nature, done on a voluntary basis and must be rendered to the community (e.g. Church, school, Community Chest, YMCA, community centres or other charitable organizations registered with the National Council of Social Service) outside the BB. Stage 1 Awarded to Boys who carry out 20 hours of community service in one session. Stage 2 Awarded Boys who hold the Stage 1 award gained in a previous session and have carried out an additional 20 hours of community service in one session. Stage 3 Awarded Boys who hold the Stage 2 award gained in a previous session and have carried out an additional 20 hours of community service in one session. |
| Drill Award
Assessment will be based on personal bearing and smartness, correct detailing and words of command. Stage 1 Awarded to Boys who pass the following examinations based on the Drill manual. Stage 2 Awarded to Boys who hold the Stage 1 award gained in a previous session, and who have passed the following examinations based on the Drill Manual. Stage 3 Awarded to Boys who hold the Stage 2 award gained in a previous session, and who have passed the following examinations based on the Drill Manual. |
| Senior Proficiency Award
The objective of this award is to encourage all companies to focus on a core programme for the Boys and at the same time develop them with a good balance of activities. Awarded to Boys who meet the following requirements: 1. Christian Education Stage 2 2. Citizenship stage 2 3. Community Services Stage 2 4. Drill Stage 2 5. Adventure Stage 2 6. First Aid Stage 2 7. NCO Star Stage 2 |
| Founders Badge
This is the highest and one of the most honorable awards a boy can attain in the Brigade. To qualify for the award, a Boy must: 1. Be recommended by his captain and the companys sponsoring body as suitable. 2. Have attended at least 90 parades for the day he joins The Boys Brigade. 3. Have attended at least 90 bible classes/cell group/church services where attendances are taken and certified by the Captain/Chaplain. Note or item 2 & 3 - There must be a minimum of at least 25 meetings/parades and bible study sessions in each year. - The Bible Study session (e.g. Sunday School, Church Services or Cell Group) must be held outside parade hours. Original Record of Attendance must accompany the application and endorsed by thr Company Chaplai or Captain. 4. Have gained the following awards in the previous sessions prior to application: - Christian Education Stage 3 - Community Services Stage 3 - Senior Proficiency award - National Event Badge - Accumulate a total of 14 points from other proficiency awards, which exclude the NCO, Community Services & CE Awards. Awards Point Systerm: Stage 1=No Point, Stage 2=2Points & Stage 3=3Points 5. Have Successfully undertaken a project/assignment or complete a training programme created for potential Founders men. The Executive will determiner the nature of these activities. All potential applicants aiming for the award are advised to apply to the BBHQ for the project/assignment or training programme one-year ahead of time. 6. Be found suitable and approved by a panel of interviewers, appointed by the Executive, to be awarded the Founders Badge. |
| National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA)
The aim of the NYAA Scheme is to encourage young people between the ages of 14 and 25 years to develop personal qualities of self-reliance, perseverance and a sense of responsibility to themselves, to society and to the nation. The criteria for an award are those of self-improvement and effort. The participant is judged on personal achievement measured against original circumstances and potential capabilities. This allows for the less able and disadvantaged to participate on an equal opportunity basis. |

| THREE YEARS SERVICE BADGE
Awarded to Boys who have served with good conduct and have completed three years of service. The attendance requirement is for the Boy to have attended a minimum of 25 parades in each of the three years. |
| Firemans Award
Stage 1 Awarded to Boys of 13 age or more who have successfully completed the course, and who have passed the prescribed test. This stage shall be conducted by the Singapore Civil Defence Force or any other boy approved by the Senior Section Committee. |
| First Aid Award
Stage 1 All instructions will be based on authorized First Aid Manual of the St. John Ambulance, St. Andrews Ambulance Association and the British Red Cross Society. Examination should be on a practical, written and oral basis, and should be conducted by competent instructors and examiners. Stage 2 Awarded to Boys who hold the Stage 1 award gained in a previous session, attended regularly a course of instruction whish includes a revision of the Stage 1 syllabus, and pass both the theory and practical tests. Stage 3 Awarded to Boys who hold the Stage 2 award gained in a previous session, who had attended regularly a further course of instruction whish includes a revision of the Stage 1 and Stage 2 syllabus, and who have pass both the theory and practical examinations. |
| Physical Training Award
Awarded to Boys who have taken a test under the National Physical Fitness Award (NAPFA) conducted by the Sports Council of Singapore, and who have attained the necessary standards. Boys may attempt to qualify for any stage of the award. Stage 1 Boys who qualify for the NAPFA Bronze Award. Stage 2 Boys who qualify for the NAPFA Silver Award. Stage 3 Boys who qualify for the NAPFA Gold Award. |
| Programme Badge Awarded to Boys who have served with good conduct and have attended a minimim of 25 parades and Sunday School or any othe form of Christian Education Education, to be held outside the parade hours. |
