Who can
join
DMNK?
Any
individual
living in the Denver Metro or surrounding areas (including Colorado
Springs,
Boulder, Golden, Monument, Castle Rock, and Ft. Collins) who is over
the
age of 21 and has never parented may join. Step-parents, empty
nesters,
adoptive parents, and single parents whose children live with their
other
parent are not eligible to join. We welcome couples and singles,
and
we do not discriminate on any basis other than age and non parental
status. If you're not in our area but still wish to join, please
feel free to
email the chapter coordinator and ask if you may join. All of
our members
are childfree. Most of us chose that lifestyle, some have yet to
make
a decision, and still others did not have a choice. We do not
discriminate
on the basis of gender, age, color, race, ethnicity, cultural or
linguistic
background, marital, social or economic status, political, sexual or
religious
orientation, or physical or mental ability.
About our
group:
To become
a member
of DMNK, you must join our Yahoo! Group. You decide whether you
receive
e-mails from the group individually, in a daily digest, or a weekly
digest.
We also have a message board for casual conversation, which you can
link
to from the home page. The message board is informal; while it's
fine
to post your events to it, the official place to post events is on our
Yahoo
group email list. Check out our events page to learn more about
participating.
Rules and
Guidelines:
We're a
rather
proudly anarchic No Kidding chapter, so we don't have a whole lot of
rules.
Our few policies are geared towards keeping the group childfree,
keeping
our members safe, and encouraging community and common courtesy.
We
ask that members treat all other members with courtesy and
respect
at all times.
When
posting
to the group email list or the message board, please follow these
guidelines:
Keep your
language
civil and clean, and avoid inflammatory language and insults. Our
email
list is used primarily for planning events, but it is also a place for
childfree
adults to find community. Inflammatory posts will not be
tolerated.
It's OK
to vent
a bit about your experiences with parents and children if you wish; but
we're
not about child hating or parent hating. Please do not use our
email
list or message board as a place to vent insults to anyone:
members,
parents or children.
We are
not a
dating service. All official DMNK events are open to all members.
If
you wish to gather with select members of DMNK whom you have already
met,
you are encouraged to do so, but these events must be planned outside
of
the group.
Posts
seeking
dates or other exclusive relationships will not be tolerated.
They
will be immediately deleted from the message board and the member who
posted
will either be warned or banned from the group, depending on the
situation.
Anyone who posts an email of a sexually explicit nature will be
immediately
banned from the group.
