My Biography
At 4:47am, on April 4 1977, I was born in Hutchinson,
Minnessota. I was the first child of my parents; Marcy Joan and
Roger Charles Denton. I weighed 10lbs. 4oz....Yikes!
When I was 4 months old, I had to have an operation on my skull
to keep me alive! I had a small fracture and the white blood cells were
becoming congested, so I had a shunt put in to relieve the pressure. I have
a pretty wicked scar from it to this day... I hear stories from my
family that lead me to believe that I was quite the character in
those days...
I was an only child for just 2 years when my brother,
Scott Michael Denton, came along... We were buddies for life! I
started to play Hockey around the age of 5, but a broken left
arm brought my future as a Superstar Forward to a quick halt... The story
goes like this... It was me, Scott, and Terry Ditlefson in our backyard.
We were playing Tarzan, which involved us jumping off of the picnic
table, swinging on a nearby tree branch, and landing on the ground.
Well my Mom came out and told us to stop and guess what... We didn't...
I did it again and fell just a little bit wrong and landed on my straightened
arm. SNAP/SNAP... I broke my arm in two places, my wrist and my
upper arm, but I wasn't about to go running for Mom because she had just told me not to do it!
No I decided to go sit on the couch in sheer pain... Well, she came
and saw my arm and we rushed to the hospital... I still can't touch my
shoulder with my left arm...
When I was 7 we moved to Hermitage, Tennessee
(Hermitage is a suburb of Nashville). My Dad got a terrific job offer at
Northern Telecom (currently NorTel), and we moved into a big brand new
house! I met my best friend Sam Sanford (two houses down)
and started school at Dodson Elementary. In Fourth grade I was accepted
into the Apple Classroom Of Tommorrow (A.C.O.T.), and got a cutting
edge Apple II to take home!!! I still remember playing some silly Wrestling game
and Flight Simulator on that bad boy... During this time I also played
a little T-Ball but T-Ball is only fun for so long...
Seventh Grade... Ohh boy... I went to one of Nashville's
Junior High School's, Two Rivers, and I suddenly became really
shy. I think I was just trying to be cool or something... This is where
I really started my life of music. The Alto Saxophone! Woo Hoo! I was really
bad at it too... I was last chair my entire career, but I didn't
really care because that's where all the fun people in band were,
and talking to said people got me into plenty of trouble.
During this time I fell victim to the MC Hammer Pants/"steps"
haircut (see the picture above...)/etc. crazes and was trying to
be things that I wasn't...I learned from it though...Be yourself!
I had a tremendous start at one of the largest
schools in Middle Tennessee - McGavock... During the beginning
of the summer previous to my Ninth grade year, I had a "accident"
involving me, my trusty BMX Bike, and a rather large Cadillac.
Guess who won. Well I broke my leg with a hairline fracture and had to
spend the entire summer, vacation at the lake, and beginning of my Freshman
year, in a BIG BLUE CAST... NOT FUN.
"What the heck - Tennessee
Tech!!!"* After graduation in 1995, I came to check
out TTU to see if I liked it, and decided that day that I
wanted to go there... The campus is beautiful and it is in a terrific
town - Cookeville!!! My Freshman year wasn't all that... I
had a three person room all to myself and the pipes... Which leaked
on me on many occasions. I had just gotten a Playstation and Ridge
Racer and basically never left my room. Not fun. After
getting put on Academic probation, I decided to sit out of school
for a year. During my hiatus, I got my first Waiting job at T.G.I.
Fridays. They basically were desperate, so I got myself a JOB!
It was a terrific job and everybody loved me! All my money went towards
my CD collection and having fun so I really didn't save any
money at all. Sorry Mom!!! I also worked at Applebee's,
and loved it there too.
Well that about covers it for now...I'll keep adding as things come along!!!
