Last April  12, 2006, Wednesday,  I had a chance to visit one of the big names in pigeon racing in the Philippines, Mang Rey Tamayo.

The visit was made possible thru Mr. Egay Capulong's assistance and it was indeed a humbling experience altogether.

Mang Rey was an epitome of humility and his kindess was noteworthy. There is not a single trace of pride when you get to talk to him. It helped a lot for a novice like me  because it makes it easier to ask questions about 'Ks' without being ill at ease (di ka mahihiyang magtanong eh).

I was amazed forever during the loft visit because Mang Rey isn't indeed a big time fancier for nothing. My eyes has bloated with envy with all the gorgeous birds on sight. The breeders are eye-popping and the YBs are all in very good and healthy condition.

The loft which was  composed of 2-levels was also a sight to behold. The different sections are well organized and the birds have lots of space to take wings. And most importantly, the loft ventilation was at its best..

I am without an end pleased to have had a chance to meet Mang Rey. It was a day out of a week of my nippy vacation jaunt in Manila (am currently based in Singapore) and it's all fun all the time.

I have gotten more excited and will be looking forward to my next 'big' loft visit. And if it happens to be on the same loft of Mang Rey, wait until you hear me say 'YESSSSS'.
