The business meeting was called to order at 12:22 pm by Marie Schultz, Chairperson.

Marie explained that there would be a very short business meeting while we enjoyed our lunch.  She thanked Dorothy Welch, Sergeant at Arms, and her committee for arranging the luncheon provided by our members in honor of our special guest speaker, Francois Lachance.

Marcia Swingle made a motion that the Secretary's Minutes be accepted as published.  The motion passed by voice vote.

Jackie Ridley, Treasurer, gave her report.  The starting balance this month was $273.00.  With the addition of $94.00 from various sources and expenditures of $30.00 the ending balance is $337.00.

Gwen Donato, Program Chairperson, reminded us that next month's speaker will be Rev. Elizabeth Meacham portraying Jane Wheley, the sister of John MacKay.

Dorothy Welch reminded everyone to bring a brown bag lunch next month as only soup and hot beverages will be provided. And of course, "treats" are always welcome.

Marie Schultz announced that a new position for PR and Recruitment has been developed.  Pat Mead has agreed to accept that position. Marie thanked her for arranging an article on the guild in the Livingston County News as well as the call-in to the Michael Warren Thomas radio program.

Marie also announced that Sarah Le Count has accepeted the position of Guild Librarian.

There was no correspondence to report this month.

To commemorate National Flour Month Marie brought in several vintage flour/seed sacks and Susan Woodhouse shared a poem about flour sacks.

Marie announced that there are new orange folders for circulating the back issues of Food History News.  She requested that issues be placed in the folders for safekeeping while they are in circulation.

At every meeting, our sign-in book will be placed on the hall table along with the museum's sign-in book.  Please remember to sign both books.  It is important for us to keep track of those attending each meeting and for the museum to track its visitors.

Gwen Donato made a motion to adjourn the business meeting.  Bid Rubenstein seconded the motion. The motion was carried by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 pm for a special program on the Star of the West Milling Company presented by mill manager Francois Lachance.

Secretary's Note:  Francois Lachance gave an excellent Power Point program on the Star of the West Mill, the past history of milling and the future prospects and problems.  We are grateful for his donation of several bags of flour which were raffled off.  Congratulation to all the winners.

The next meeting will be held at the Big Springs Historical Society in Caledonia at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 28, 2008.  We look forward to welcoming Rev. Elizabeth Meacham portraying Janet MacKay Wheley.
