The town crier called everybody to work to finish an old classroom block that was still in rough state. Here you see masons preparing a new floor for a classroom; women bring in the cement. In another room men are making cement. There's no mill so they have to do it themselves. First sand and cement are mixed, then water is added. Hard labour! The finishing of this building is part of a bigger project funded by the Dutch embassy in Accra. It's really wonderful to see them working together, coming out in their numbers and being concerned about the welfare of their children. By the 1st of July all the projects have to be finished, so that by the beginning of the new academic year, all the children of Tokokoe can sit in their own classroom! I'm already looking forward to that day. |
