The town crier called everybody to work to finish an old classroom block that was still in rough state.
Here you see masons preparing a new floor for a classroom; women bring in the cement. In another room men are making cement. There's no mill so they have to do it themselves. First sand and cement are mixed, then water is added. Hard labour! The finishing of this building is part of a bigger project funded by the Dutch embassy in Accra. It's really wonderful to see them working together, coming out in their numbers and being concerned about the welfare of their children. By the 1st of July all the projects have to be finished, so that by the beginning of the new academic year, all the children of Tokokoe can sit in their own classroom! I'm already looking forward to that day.

Iedereen werd opgeroepen om mee te komen helpen het gebouw op de achtergrond af te bouwen. Er moeten vloeren in, het moet geplasterd worden en er moeten wat nieuwe dakplaten op.Dit project is onderdeel van meerdere projecten, gefinancierd door de Nederlandse Ambassade in Accra.
De dorpsomroeper ging rond en men kwam in grote getale. De metselaars en de overige mannen zetten zich aan de zware taak cement te maken. Kijk hier in Nederland gaat dat even door de molen,daar moeten ze eerst zelf met schoppen het zand en het cement mengen. Daarna wordt er een soort vijvertje gemaakt waarin water wordt gegooid. Het geheel wordt omgespit en zo heb je cement. Dat is hard werken!
