| Cooper Power Systems Employee Newsletter - Page 2 of 2 The Chinese worked exclusively on the Kyle Type KFE Recloser. O'Boyle had previously created a comprehensive five-hour video training program on the assembly and testing of the device after department manager Patrick M. Taugher had asked, "Does anyone know of a way to create a video showing how to assemble one of our products -- and get it produced in five languages?" O'Boyle knew instantly, of course, but to avoid "steppng on toes", he waited for co-workers including Peggy Julga and Dave McCauley to speak up. When no one had any ideas about how to surmount this challenge, O'Boyle discussed his ideas privately with Taugher and volunteered for the project. Utilizing Bill Opper from Montello, WI and his Opper Video Services, O'Boyle came up with the concept to show each part along with its part number, then cut to the assembly sequence throughout the entire video. Based on the parts catalog, O'Boyle wrote the script and coordinated the videography, editing and post-production work. He narrated the English-language version as well -- after all, he is The Voice! The finished work ended up becoming another G-R-E-A-T hit -- and saved the company $275,000! Ask Dennis for a copy sometime. Rumor has it that each VHS set comes with a FREE bag of microwave popcorn, yum! |
