Home Remodel Project

When I retired in Oct 2003, we decided to do a little remodel to the house.  The first major project was the dining room, entry, kitchen area.  Since we tend to design as we go, things get a little chaotic at times.
Looking from the front door toward the breakfast area and the sliding door onto the patio.  You are looking through the opening in the pony wall that seperates the dining area from the entryway.  The rough opening between the dining area and the kitchen/breakfast area was a wall before we started with a 3' 0" opening on the right side.  We opened up an 8 foot wide area to make the space seem larger and more useable.
This is basically the same view a few days later.  As you can see , we framed in an arch in the new opening.  You can also notice a new door leading into the laundry/pantry.  We installed a pocket door here to delete the lost space  caused by the door swing.  The base coat of the wall finish is also on in the breakfast area.
Satnding in the corner of the dining room, you can see the kitchen and the sliding doors leading into the patio.  The kitchen is also scheduled from demolition and remodel.  Just a few days before this, the opening you see was a single 3' 0" doorway.  From this view all you could see was the side of the refridgerator.  As you can image, taking out the wall opened this space up and made it much more useable and more friendly.
