Work

Software Architect, Kentor IT

I'm a dedicated software developer and consultant with a profound interest in architecture and design, as well as practices for coming up with good architecture and design. I have the privilage to work as a Software Architect at Kentor AB - an IT consulting company based in Stockholm, Sweden. I've been here since August 1997 when I gave up my position as CTO at Linesco Telecom AB.

As a child I was interested in music and electronics. These interests lead me to build a synthesizer and a simple drum-machine. The drum-machine was built around discrete components that only could generate simple, and quite monotonous, drum-sequences. At this time the microprocessor was becoming popular and I decided to build a computer around a Motorola M6800 and have the computer controll the drum-machine. However, after building the computer and learning to write assembler programs I realized that it was far more interesting to program computers than to build computers.

After programming in assembler for a while I started to try out more high-level programming languages like GW-BASIC, QuickBASIC and subsequently VisualBasic. At the university my interest for mathematics and electronics took the better of me and I graduated with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. Even though programming wasn't my major I was educated in Pascal and C for procedural programming, C++ for object-oriented programming and Modula-2 for real-time programming.

After I graduated in 1991 with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering I started working for a company that was specialized in optical storage technologies, and I became a consultant with expertise in optical technologies. During this time I was involved in many different areas where the new optical media could be used, including programming educational multimedia programs that could be distributed on optical discs. In 1994 I decided to join the new start-up company Linesco Telecom as CTO. When looking back it appears to me that I have had a jolly good journy during the trip from being a hardware adict to being a software adict.

I live in Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden, with my wife Gisela, a financial manager, and two wonderful kids. We like to get out of doors in our spare time and discover the wonderful nature around Stockholm together with our children. During the winter we usually go skiing in the north of Sweden.
