HoganStory

Lord Hogan of Buckrobyn was born on a farm in Morrinsville on September 12th 2001. His father is a large long coated GSD called Buck who lives in Matamata with Jenny Buckley and her partner Dave.   His mother, Casey, is a short coated GSD who lives on the farm in Morrinsville with Robyn Faulkner where Hogan was born. Casey originally came from Taupo from a breeder who supplies dogs to the police department. Both Hogan's parents are working GSD's, bringing the cows in for milking and looking after the property. Hogan's aunts and uncles are Police Dogs.

Hogan was the first born of a litter of 10 pups. 7 males, 3 females. For his first 4 weeks he was known as "Orange Boy"

Orange Boy was not actually my first choice.

Following the birth of the litter photos were sent to me by the "grandparents" Jenny Buckley and Robyn Falkner of this bundle of puppies.    As the puppies grew, more photos came and I was drawn to "Purple Boy".

But... things change when you see them in the fur. On my first visit down to the farm I quickly realised that Purple Boy was not for me, he was lovely, he was fluffy, but that little something wasn't there.   Then I saw Orange Boy.    Then I knew why Purple Boy was not for me. It was because Orange Boy was the one.   He HAD that special something.

Orange Boy became Hogan and commenced life with us in Auckland at the end of October 2001 becoming the 4th dog of the household.   He was quickly accepted by the canine members of his new family and in particular was taken under the wing of our other LH-GSD Yani, in whom it soon became obvious that she felt that Hogan belonged to her.   She was a mother after all.

Hogan graduated from puppy school with honours and had a graduation ceremony and commenced obedience training with Waitakere Dog Training Club (puppy division) under the tutorship of Stephanie Whittle. (Test C obedience judge). He is progressing very well and has learnt quickly. He responds exceptionally well to clicker training and see's training as a really fun time.
