(Centre Block and Peace Tower)
in Ottawa, Ontario
The centre of Canada's government. At 8:50 PM on February 3, 1916, fire broke out and quickly spread throughout the building. By morning, there was little left but rubble. Only the Library of Parliament survived unharmed. The new building seen here was rebuilt in the original gothic revival style. A light burns in the top of the tower whenever the House of Commons is in session.
