Just as a drunk left the bar to walk home, the midnight sky opened up and the hardest rain in years began to fall. He decided to take a shortcut through the cemetery. Dodging tombstones, he tripped over one and fell into a freshly-dug grave.
For over an hour, he tried to climb back out of the hole, but between the pouring rain and mud, he just couldn't get out. He decided his best plan of action would be to curl up in a corner and wait for the mud to dry.
The drunk was awakened an hour later by a body falling onto him and he watched in the rainy darkness as the other man tried to climb out of the grave. Over and over again, the man jumped up only to slide back down in the oozing mud.
Finally, the first drunk stood up, tapped the second on the shoulder, and said, "You'll never get out."
He did!!
