Flamerule 21-28, 1375: The students are sent on a search and rescue mission to Luskin. They arrive in Neverwinter's rival city, moving to the merchant district just outside the noble district, staying at the Golden Tiger Inn (modeled after inns found in Amn.) Darvin poses as the lord of the group, with the others posing as his servants.
Flamerule 28 - 29, 1375: The students do some investigating in order to find out the whereabouts of "Elkie". Chand and Harold venture into the Tavern District and discover the Flinty Bint is the front for the rogues guild. Harold notices a kid is watching them and chases after him. He catches him in an alley, which happens to have a quartet of half-orc thugs hanging out. A skirmish ensues, the kid gets away, some locals jump Chand when he uses magic in the encounter (apparently fists and weapons are okay, but not magic, when it comes to combat). Harold uses his breath weapon to free Chand and carries his unconscious and nearly dead body away. Darvin and Barnaby enter the Tavern District and intimidate a thug into telling them about the rogues guild. Darvin and Barnaby encounter Harold and the unconscious Chand on the way back. The next day the students do some more investigating, as well as planning.
Flamerule 29 - 30, 1375: The students find more creative ways to continue their investigating, including killing innocent townspeople and creating a companion to hide the identity of Numan. Many are interrogated by a Luskan wizard who seems to have the ability to determine if they are lying. The wizard hires Numan to do research. Oh, and Darvin and Barnaby find a fight. Still no closer to finding Elkie.
Flamerule 30 - Midsummer, 1375: The students continue their investigations, taking a trip to the Flinty Bint. They meet a halfling monk who they take into their confidence, only to learn later he apparently works for the Guild. They also find a baker willing to show them a hidden entrance into the Guild. The early morning meeting brings an attack from a spellcaster in the alley. Barnaby gives chase, but has to give up when the spellcaster enters a building with too many armed people. The students make the baker show them the secret exit out of the city and then into the Guild, where they hole up for the moment.
Midsummer, 1375: The students decide to enter the secret passage under the cover of darkness once the sun sets, hoping the holiday will bring less attentiveness by the Guild. As informed, the passageway is blocked by a cave-in, but one of the stones was put there to block a very small passage they students are able to crawl through. Barnaby goes first and when he emerges on the other side he is attacked by a roper. The battle goes on for a long time, but the students prevail. Beyond the roper is a large cave with orc fighters (and one orc mage). Again, the students prevail. So far, so good. They pass a patch of shriekers and violet fungi, but the alarm of the former does not bring reinforcements. In the area beyond there is a trapped floor, but the students manage not to fall into it. Below they see something briefly that looks like a mindflayer. They discover a cache of potions.
Midsummer - 1 Eleasias, 1375: The students decide not to venture down to the mindflayers. Their exploration of the catacombs bring them to some carrion crawlers devouring a dead pegasus, a gated well, and a band of derro who use darkness to their advantage to keep the students at bay. The students wander more.
1 Eleasias, 1375: The students clean up after defeating the mummy, though Chand succumbs to a poisonous gas when he opens a cat staturary. Figuring the mummy's tomb to be a safe place to rest and recover spells, they settle down. Darvin and Shalindar are on watch when a halfling and dwarf open the door. The dwarf flies away while the halfling fights on. Darvin grapples the halfling and they learn the Guild is aware of the students and are on alert. The halfling suggests that if they want to live they should leave now. They kill the halfling and rouse everyone to move. Much planning about what to do, then they head back towards the derro area. They encounter medusas. Shalindar is petrified as a snake. Chand is petrified as well. Barnaby loses dex and con to various effects. Harold and Numan are nearly spellless. They decide to set up a rouse by using the dead medusas to keep the Guild at bay. They are attacked by skeletons. Numan, Barnaby and Darvin destroy them. They are attacked again later by skeletons; Barnaby and Darvin take care of them. They are later attacked by an invisible spellcaster with a fireball and a summoned gargantuan centipede. They don't find the spellcaster, so they decide it is a good time to flee.
1-10 Eleasias, 1375: Numan stone shapes the stone around the grate below the well, dropping the grate on Harold. They get everyone up and to the barn. Later in the early morning Mouse shows up, explaining his absense as infiltrating the Guild. He tells his fellow students about the Guild locking down because of invaders and barely escaping. He confirms Elkie is apparently still alive. He goes and gets a bard named Brad to break enchantment on Chand and Shalindar. He asked the students to help him retrieve a magical harp from some fire giants, which Darvin and Barnaby readily agree to. The other students agree since the week or so they are gone might convince the Guild to no longer be in lockdown. They leave the next day. Shalindar talks about wanting a new companion, perhaps a dire wolverine. Sure enough, later that week they are attacked by a pair of them. The next day Shalindar gets his companion. The next day the students arrive at the box cavern leading to the fire giants' lair. Shalindar flies in owl form to recon and discovers a well defended cave (spikes and large, black dogs) and what looks to be a dragon in a obscured cave above.
10-15 Eleasias, 1375: After much debate, the students decide the best course of action is to attack what they believe to be a dragon. More planning ensues, then they fly to just outside the ledge of the dragon, prepare buffing spells, and then go in. Unfortunately, it is a dragon, and a well prepared one at that. It unleashes a lingering breath weapon of fire and then bitchslaps a charging Barnaby with its tail. The students manage to do some minor damage, and while it apparently was mentioned the dragon will likely breath fire again soon, the students keep on fighting. Darvin is crushed by the dragon's effective attacks (and eaten). Chand is charbroiled by the second breath weapon (and eaten, but not before Numan grabs his backpack). Brad the Bard dies from the lingering fire after jumping off the ledge with a feather fall. Harold levitates up and out of the line of fire. Shalindar changes into a large eagle and goes to get Harold. Barnaby, still filled with barbarian rage decides to attack the hell hourds below and is killed and torn apart, then eaten (as is the dead Brad.) Shalindar, Harold and Numan return to where Mouse and Shalindar's animal companion were waiting. Mouse feels fortunate not to have been included in the planning. The remaining students return to Neverwinter to report the debacle.
Note to self: Do not put two barbarians in the same class.
