17-18 Flamerule, 1376: The Neverwinter Race Team take on a mission to help a local minor zulkir. There's been a growing darkness around his hunting lodge which is ruining his hunting. The Team learn there are tougher kinds of undead that inhabit the Plane of Shadow.
18 Flamerule, 1376: The Neverwinter Team members wander the Plane of Shadow in search of the gates, and find some pretty nasty undead. Ilarrion is killed by Greater Shadow, becoming a shadow himself. He is killed by the Team. Deciding they don't have what it takes to do this job, the Team heads for the Material Plane and manage to stumble upon a gate. Chand disintegrates the gate, which spews out fist-sized diamonds. It also summons a huge Nightcrawler and a greater stone gollem. The battle begins.
18-19 Flamerule, 1376: The Neverwinter Team members manage to escape the nightcrawler and the golem, fleeing to the safety of the light. After some healing (though not completely for the entire team), it is decided to reenter the darkness as destroying one gate has only slowed the progress of the expansion. Shortly after entering the shadow the team is surprised by two greater shadow elementals. Smitty, still damaged from the last encounter, is taken down quickly. Darvin and Barnanby throw caution to the wind and rush into battle. Everyone else believes retreat is the better option. Harold teleports the corpse of Smitty and the pounded Darvin back to the inn. Chand teleports all the rest, except for Barnaby, also to the inn. Barnaby is left to face the elementals, all the while cursing Darvin for leaving him. He decides to run, while Chand and Harold teleport back to retreive the halfling. They can hear him cursing Darvin and sweep him up with another teleport back to the inn. The team finds a cleric of Azuth to use a true ressurrection on Smitty and Ilarion.
19 Flamerule, 1376: Chand also has a true ressurrection done, giving up the ghostly life. The Team returns to the darkness to fight more deadly undead and golems. They find the next gate and fight its guardians.
19 Flamerule, 1376: The Team finish off the guardians of the last gate - the big bad sends a message of thanks for setting him free from Xin's control and who needs to be destroyed to reverse the influx of Lacc into the Realms. A cleric from another plane finds them and offers to help them get into keep, drawing off the guards. The Team enters and fights two greater shadow elementals.
19 Flamerule - 5 Eleasis, 1376: The Team defeat the two greater shadow elementals. They venture up the stairs where they fight shadows, zombies, vampires, and mummies; but not normal run of the mill undead. The challenge is great, but they are up to it. Still, nothing of Xin.They run into a door that is magically trapped and locked. Chand uses a disjunction to bring down the trap and succeeds in bringing down the tower. The Team escape into the keep. They rest and recover, then open the door to discover the shadow is gone (along with a large diameter of ground, allowing the lake to fill in. The Zulkirs of Thay determine the Team didn't do this purposefully against the land, so they are rewarded for the minor service rendered - they are each given a valuable magic item. Downtime passes and the Race resumes. The first task is to get a dragon turtle. They hire a steamship captain and go hunting, bringing down a really gargantuan specimen.
