We saw enough snow to tide us over for awhile.
Jeju is basically a dormant volcano.
Mt Halla fills the view wherever you go. It's dead centre of the island.
We scaled the sleeping volcano for a few hours. Saw massive amounts of snow, slid around, felt cold, bumped into many happy hiking Koreans, walked through flurries near the top and finally descended.
We took advantage of our long weekend to take a trip to the lovely island of Jeju.

In the summer it's a lush tropical paradise filled with oranges and tourists. In the winter it's a mild island climate filled with fewer tourists. Our first 2 nights we stayed in Jeju-shi at the northern tip of the island, and took buses or taxis to our spots of interest.
Jejudo New Year/ Jour de l'An 2002
We checked out the largest folk village on the island. Very interesting, but not nearly as cool as it would be in summer time. No live performances at this time of the year.

We walked down the world's largest lava tube. We only get access to 1km, but it's actually 14km long and connected to other caves.
From the tube we took an hour long taxi ride ($30) to Soegwipo at the south of the island. This is where we should have gone to begin with. The weather was much milder and the waterfalls in the area are really beautiful.
