| About MUN Mun is a simulation of the United Nations. Participants get together and discuss world problems, they pretend to be a country, research this country and speak from the point of view of this country. The issues debated on are issues that have previously been spoken about in the real United Nations. It is a real simulation, therefore, formal clothing is requested and the language spoken is english. Most MUNs are too small to simulate all UN bodies, but there are a few standard bodies that are always simulated, like the General Assembly, Human Rights Council, Security Council, Economic and Social (ECOSOC), Environment and Ecology (E&E) etc. MUN is, of course, not only about the simulation of the UN, but also about making international contacts, and the party that most MUNs have (though DEMUN will not have one, since it is only a one-day conference). Some examples of MUNs are: Munish, Lemun and Thimun, Maymun, Erasmun and Minimun. Conferences usually take place over a weekend, starting on Friday afternoon with the opening ceremony and ending on Sunday evening with the closing ceremony. |
