It
has always been a lifelong dream of mine to someday visit Asia.
In the summer of Y2K, I achieved that dream, if not at least in part,
by spending a couple of weeks in Singapore.
Also
known throughout the Far East as a "food paradise,"
Singapore is an incredible metropolis of interconnected seven-story-shopping-malls
and regal religious temples. Lying just above
the equator, this thriving city-state has overcome its lack of natural
resources to become a tiger economy in Southeast Asia. There
are many interesting things about Singapore, but in my opinion, the
best of them all is the multiracial culture. Chinese, Malay,
Indians, and foreign visitors alike all tend to live and interact
in an admirable harmony. As implied by some of these pictures,
the ethnic diversity found in Singaporean culture helps bring forth
an intense variety of
culinary
delights... or in other words, they've got lots of awesome food!
