"They are many. And at that time, there was no such thing as the Maw."
De Laurent

Though Mr. Jigsaw offers vital clues on the truths that exist, the group finds clearer answers through the spirit of Aristotle de Laurent. Being a ghost born way back during the Dark Ages, he shares with them his strange memories of an underworld that no longer exists and of a spectral war leading to the transcendance of the first among their kind. When he shares his understanding of the worlds that exist beyond the lands of the Quick, a term he uses to refer to the living, he shares as well with them the possible reason he was brought back from his Spectredom: The emotional ties to Humanity he held on to during his non-fallen days were the key. But would the Crucible have the time to use this new found information?

"Kate has gone in."
Andrew Everard

To the Crucible's Horror, Kate Dennison leaves on a mission alone. Without warning the rest of them, she moves past the Stormwall and travels with Mr. Jigsaw to meet with his "employers". Unwilling to let her go alone, the Crucible find the means to traverse the Stormwall and discover their Vitality shining and forming around them as a form of armor. In the darkness of the wasteland that surrounds them, they attempt to chase after her, hoping they will not arrive too late.
