Yakon, Armor, is a planet that appears to have always been dead. But it houses a metal called Tanzanite, one of the strongest metals to be found by the Zanzavarnians. Mines on this planet go Deep into its surface.
Yakon is a Class G world. This world has nothing on the surface except hills and valleys. Tanzanite was found on the surface during a science trip to the planet. This metal opened a whole new world of technology and science. Unlike anything they had found to date Tanzanite is twice as strong as Tungsten. Although Earth, in the Sol system, has a gem called Tanzanite, this metal has proved to have no relations. Most Ship hulls are made with this metal because of the extremly high melting point and the strength this metal puts out. Some of the more important structures on planets are made with this metal.
Tanzanite is a Bloodorange color. Unrefined it is a flacky metal. After melting that flacky material it becomes hard fast. Once Hardend it is extreamly hard. Sadly to get the best results you have to melt it down several times and let it harden.
Deep mines go far below the surface of the planet where they have cut out and airlocked intire sections to live in. Even Remus's mines are not as deep as theis. The turn out an average quantity of 12,000 kilograms of Tanzanite a year. |
