Nicholas II: God of Czars

This page is all about Nicholas the Second. We hope you find this page helpful, and the information as accurate as possible. Welcome to the ultimate Nicholas the Second web page.

Nicholas the Second was the last czar of Russia. He was a weak and shy leader, not really capable of leading a country. Crowned in 1894, he was greeted with joy and hope. It was clear to the people that he was not interested in making any changes, or introducing new ideas. He and his wife, Alexandra, were mother and father to one boy, Alexii, who suffered from hemophilia, and four girls. Their names were Anastasia, Maria, Tatiana, and Olga. Although not a good leader, the bloody sunday shootings were not all his fault, considering he wasn't even at the Winter Palace, therefore never giving the soldiers the order to fire. He was the cause, however, for the 1917 overthrow, the end of the Romanovs.

Nicholas the Second followed many of his father's ideas. His father was Alexander the Third. Nicholas the Second believed the country needed a strong leader if the country itself would ever become powerful. Even though Nicholas the Second believed this, he was not a strong leader, and not interested in making any new changes or introducing new ideas. This may have led to his downfall.

The end of Tsarism was due to many demonstrations and strikes. The bolsheviks seized many buildings and moved towards the Winter Palace. The battleship Aurora gave in and shot at the Winter Palace, symbolizing the end of Tsarism. Nicholas and his family were killed all at one time, and their bodies were thrown into a mine shaft. This was the end of tsarism, and a new start for the Soviet Union. I would also like to add that when saying "Russia", you then refer to three things:
1. Present day Russia.
2. All of Russia during tsarist times.
3. An older Russian republic.

So unless refering to one of the above, it is then called the Soviet Union. That is all.
